Dumebi Elueme

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in 2016. During the program I worked in various auto shops, fixing cars and gaining hands-on experience, and moved around a few of Nigeria's big auto franchises — Elizade, Coscharis, and Germaine — mostly as a technician, but also as a technical service advisor and, briefly, as a workshop manager. For a time I was also a technical consultant for a small logistics company.

In 2017 I moved to Canada to pursue a second Bachelor's, this time in Automotive Engineering. Along the way I worked summers as a seat assembler and later as a production group lead at General Motors of Canada, served as a Residence Advisor supporting and tutoring first-year engineering students, and stayed involved with Women in Engineering and the Ontario Tech Racing team. I also took on small-scale 3D modelling work, mostly in SolidWorks and NX.

I graduated from Ontario Tech University in June 2021, with distinction. I spent almost a year at Tesla on the Active and Passive Safety Test team, testing Autopilot software, before joining Stellantis (formerly Fiat Chrysler, formerly Chrysler) in April 2022 as a Senior Diagnostics Engineer. My role quickly transitions to a Functional Safety Engineer - this is where I've settled on my career it's my favourite of all the things I've done to this point. I started my Master's at Ontario Tech in September 2023, focused on path-planning algorithms for autonomous heavy-duty articulated vehicles.

I'm a safety engineer, I'm a systems engineer. My goal is be known as an expert - on systems safety. I'm happy when I'm learning.
